About Hannah

I feel a constant pull to this place that cares for women, educates women, supports women, and watches the birth of a new woman with the birth of her child.

Hannah Wassenberg

Pregnancy Whisperer, Baby Catcher, Birth Nerd

I became truly interested in birth work after the home birth of my first child in 2012. I knew I had to be a part of this incredible experience in a bigger way, and completed a doula training that same year. I began attending births as a doula in 2013, and attending home births as a midwife assistant in 2016. I enrolled in formal midwifery training in 2018 through National Midwifery Institute and graduated in 2025. I have attended over 80 births in both the home and birth center setting, with over half of these in the primary midwife role. I have also worked as a bodyworker for the past 20 years and completed several yoga teacher trainings in yin and hatha yoga. I enjoy blending elements of these various pursuits, incorporating mindfulness, bodywork, nutrition and more to support midwifery clients. I was also awarded one of three Biddy Mason Black Midwifery scholarships this year, supporting new black midwives striving to serve their communities in California.

My Philosophy

Birth, and health, have business that's forgotten about the people. We're bringing it back to what's important - you.

Individualized care is at the center of my practice philosophy. Birth is an incredible journey both physically and emotionally that deserves to be guided by one’s own beliefs and self knowledge. I truly believe that a pregnant person knows their own body in a unique way and that this deserves a primary role in the equal partnership and shared responsibility between client and midwife that is midwifery care. The midwife brings her training and experience, education, tools for evaluation and the client brings their self-knowledge and self responsibility. The midwife and client form a team in navigating the pregnancy journey together.
